Our certified organic black seed oil is red to brown in colour, with a thin consistency, and has a scent similar to seeds. The oil is 100% pure and it is produced without any synthetic fertilizers.
Our cold pressed black seed oil is certified organic by the Soil Association. We are audited once a year to make sure that we comply with their strict standards.
Black seed oil (also known as kalonji seed oil or nigella sativa oil) is produced from the seeds of the Nigella Sativa plant. Found in Tutankhamun's tomb back in 3300BC, the oil is popularly referred to as “Gold of the Pharaohs.” Black seed oil is extracted by cold pressing organic nigella sativa seeds below 35C to preserve its natural qualities.
What is Black Seed Oil Used For?
Cold pressed black seed oil is said to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may help to reduce inflammation , antibacterial and antioxidant properties. However, there is not enough scientific research to support this.
Organic black seed oil has a comedogenic rating of 2 and is beneficial for those with dry and sensitive skin types. It is also great for those with acne prone and oily skin types, however it may clog pores.
We recommend doing a patch test before applying the oil to skin to check for irritation, sensitivity or allergic reactions.
Cold pressed black seed oil can be used for improving skin and hair health. It is often used in cosmetic products like creams, moisturisers, body oils, soaps, hair serums and face masks.
It is commonly said to be good for potential health benefits, to support digestion, for weight loss and to improve immune health, but there is not enough evidence to support these claims. Our black seed oil is also only suitable for cosmetic use and it is not suitable for ingestion.
Make your own skin treatment with certified organic black seed oil
- Organic shea butter 200g
- Avocado oil 100ml
- Cold pressed black seed oil 100ml
Method
- In a microwave or in a bowl over boiling water, melt the shea butter.
- Weigh the avocado oil and organic black seed oil and add them to the shea butter
- Mix everything together and place the mixture into the fridge to cool.
- Once the mixture is cool and starting to set, whisk for around 5 to 10 minutes. This should reach a whipped and creamy consistency.
- Now your blackseed oil skin treatment is ready to apply!
